Head Guide
  • Training of guides and uplifting skills.
  • Ensure all guides licences and credentials are kept up to date – NDT, first aid, trails hours etc.
  • Ensure all firearms are maintained, registers updated, and comply to health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Ensure guides follow SOP’s and perform according to standard.
  • Weekly meetings with guiding department, adhering to concession rules, especially regarding off road driving.
  • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
  • Meticulous in all aspects of managing the guiding department.
  • Manage, oversee, and discipline staff in the guiding department.
  • Staff training and development – very important.
  • All administrative duties pertaining to the guiding department.
  • Stock Controls: Responsible for all stock such as equipment, radios, vehicles, rifles, ammunition, first aid equipment with regular checks made to ensure serviceability, and monthly counts done.
  • Have thorough technical knowledge and understanding of vehicles, operations, and equipment.  Strong mechanical background will be beneficial.
  • Vehicles sent for services with and management thereof, including transfer vehicles and camp bakkies.
  • Follow up on Cartrack and monitor guides movement and speed.
  • Allocation of guides to daily game drives.
  • Daily Game Drives and Bush walks when needed and aware of when the various activities are taking place.
  • Rosters for guides.
  • Ensure correct uniform is always worn and no cross branding amongst the lodges.
  • Newsletters and assist with Social media and photography.
  • Assist around the lodge in other departments.
  • Perform duty manager shifts when necessary- hosting guests and ensuring the service shift runs smoothly.
  • Attend all managerial meetings, including morning meetings.
  • Set up of wildlife projects, surveys, and monitoring, for internal data collection to share amongst the guides and for use with monthly newsletters.
  • Make sure Fauna and Flora are preserved.
  • Work with the concession manager and stand in when on off days.

 

Requirements

  • Two years in a Head Guide position, at a luxury five star property
  • 5 years plus experience at a five star luxury property
  • Lead Trails, KNP proficiency will be a bonus.
  • ARH & Rifle proficiency / SAPS Competency Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s license, PDP and First Aid Level 2 essential with Wilderness component
  • CATHSSETA /NDT Register
  • Strong leadership, organization, and time management skills
  • Must be able to communicate well with guides and take charge of the department.

Bookings, Hosting and Event Manager
 

This is an outdoor activity venue. We offer Horse Riding, Quad Biking, Go Karting, Archery, Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, Private Picnics, and a Spa.

Our visitors are individuals, families, groups and corporate companies.

We offer catering for groups.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

Matric and tertiary qualification in Hospitality or Travel preferable

Valid Driver’s license – will use the company manual bakkie essential

Stable working track record, at least 2 years in one company and a minimum of 4 years working experience

Excellent face-to-face communication skills with ability to manage complaints and confrontation in a professional manner

Good energy levels with excellent interpersonal skills – need to be confident and outgoing a quiet introverted person will not be suitable for our environment

Experienced with Outlook, Excel and Word

Accuracy and Attention to detail is critical

Ability to work on own and as part of a team. Must be self-driven

Working Days and Working Hours

8.00am to 5.00pm, but when hosting a group may need to work after hours.

Required every 2nd weekend, but when works a weekend, takes Monday and Tuesday off.

 

Food & Beverage Manager
  • Managing food costs and stock rotations and quality control
  • Managing guest experience during meals
  • Stocktakes and orders
  • Menu planning and menu options creation
  • Issuing out stock to relevant departments

Assistant Lodge Manager

Diploma/Degree in Business/Hospitality/Hotel Management or equivalent. Minimum 3 years expereience in Lodge Management or Hospitality Management. Skilled in planning and organisation. Have an awareness of developments within the food and lodge industries, as well as international trends in hospitality.Passion for the Environment, Conservation and ability to monitor an Environmental Management Plan.

Provide support and assistance to the Lodge Manager. Act as his/her relief when the Lodge Manager is on leave or time off. This position includes serving meals, running the desk, supporting the experience of guests and delivering Lodge programmes

GM Couple

.The GM couple would need be responsible for all aspects of the lodge and nature reserve in its entirety, including financial management, lodge and guest management, HR, reservations, marketing, game and veld management and security management, whilst insuring that the standards of the lodge and its owners are met and built upon to grow the business. Pastry Chef

– Supporting the Pastry Chef and ensuring that the pastry section produces the necessary breads, croissants, danish pastries and deserts integral in the daily menus and essential to the guest dining experience.

Hotel or Toursim School (or similar). South African Citizen. Preferably 2 years experience in 5 star establishments. Hosting experience. English speaking. Drivers licence essential. ARH and or Trails qualification (Back up or lead) would be advantageous. A hospitalty qualification would be advantageous. Minimum 4 years as a Field Guide in a BIG 5 Reserve. Sound Food & Beverage and service knolwledge. Excellent staff management skills. Consistent in dealing with Stafff and Guest requirements.

Guest Relations / Administration Assistant: Mtric. 3 years Hotel or Hospitality diploma/degree is beneficial or similar hospitality qualification would be advantageous. Minimum 4 years experience in a similar position Or in a similar Lodge and/or Hotel related position. Sound Food & Beverage experience and service knowledge is highly beneficial. Excellent guest relations skills. Excellent staff management skills. Consistent in dealing with staff and guest requirements.

Lodge Anchor

Requirements

•         Experience in Hospitality with a minimum of 3 years in a similar supervisory position.

– Attending to plumping and electrical problem areas

– Cleaning filters on air-conditioning systems

– Attending to all maintenance related issues at the Lodges, Central Services, Airstrip and staff villages

– Ensuring pumps are running and that there are no leaks in the pipelines
